2012 Olympics comes early to London!
If you have ever visited the wondrous exhibits at Madame Tussauds you will have met some pretty famous people, even if they are just wax works.
We have been installing floors in Madame Tussauds for over 20 years and have been involved with many different exciting projects, but this was definitely the most exciting. Madame Tussauds created their very own Olympic stage by bringing together legendary sports stars, such as Jessica Ennis, Usain Bolt, Jesse Owen and one the greatest Olympians and sport star of all time, Mohamed Ali.
The athlete’s new space in the ‘World Stage’ area, was ready to become part of the Olympic Stadium, with visual drawings from one of Madame Taussauds many designers to work from, we were asked to recreated a section of running track. The white lines to form the track were hand cut and curved from Polyflor XL, this was then inlaid to an existing Amtico floor we had previously installed 4 years ago.
Madame Tussauds also asked if it was possible for a grass effect vinyl to run alongside the track for some of the worlds cricket stars to pose on. Harvey Maria, Meadow Grass tiles produced the perfect landscape.
Tom Daleys’ wax figure is held in a dive position from the ceiling towards an interactive swimming pool, which we created using the Polyflor XL Dove White as a screen for a water effect projection, the result was outstanding and the Madame Tussauds stunning exhibit really did celebrate the coming 2012 Olympics in style.
